2024 Sunfish Shootout NOR .docx 2024 Sunfish Shootout/Sticker Burr Regatta Sunfish circuit regatta May 31-June2, 2024 NOTICE OF RACE ORGANIZING AUTHORITY/HOST: Lake Worth Sailing Club, Fort Worth, Texas RULES: This Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024 &Sunfish Class Rules 1/1/2021. ADVERTISING: Advertising will be restricted to Category A. ELIGIBILITY: Sunfish class boats. Three boats will constitute a class. REGISTRATION & FEES: The Registration Form and associated fees will be posted on the Lake Worth Sailing Club Website (www.lakeworthsailingclub.org) A completed registration form and release of liability are required to complete registration. Registration entry fee $55.00. Registration includes breakfasts and lunches for Saturday and Sunday for one registrant. Saturday night dinner is anadditional $15.00. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Sailing Instructions shall be available to all registrants at the time of the local registration and check-in at the Lake Worth Sailing Club. SCORING: The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A). All scores will be counted. One race constitutes a Regatta. SAFETY: All competitors are: a) responsible for their own safety, b) the safety of their boat, c) expected to meet U.S. Coast Guard requirements. It is the responsibility of each sailor to ensure their boat is seaworthy that centerboards, rudders and other loose items are securely attached. EQUIPMENT & MEASUREMENT CHECKS: A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Competitors participating in this regatta, do so entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during and after this club regatta. PRIZES: The number of trophies will be determined based on number of entries. FACILITIES/ACCOMMODATIONS: Showers and Bathrooms onsite. Camping is available on club grounds during regatta. ADVERTISING: Advertising will be restricted to Category A. ELIGIBILITY: Sunfish Class boats. Three boats constitute a fleet. NOTICE TO COMPETITORS: Notice to competitors will be posted on the Bulletin Board on the outside, North wall of the clubhouse. CHANGES TO THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Any changes to the sailing instructions will be posted no later than immediately after the competitors meeting or by 0900 on the day it will take effect .. Any changes to the schedule of races will be posted by 2000 on the day before it takes effect. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE: Signals made ashore will be displayed from the South dock flagpole. If a postponement is signaled, the warning signal will be not less than 30 minutes after the AP is lowered. SCHEDULE: Friday, May 31: 6:00PM-7:30PM Registration Saturday, June 1 8:00AM - 9:30AM Registration 8:00AM - 9:30AM Breakfast 9:30 AM Skippers Meeting, 10:30 AM First Warning Signal Lunch on shore at PRO discretion Happy Hour Following Last Race of the Day 6:00PM Dinner Sunday, June 2 08:00AM - 09:30AM Breakfast 10:00 AM First Warning Signal No race to start after 1:00 PM Lunch at the Clubhouse & Trophy Presentation Following STARTING SEQUENCE: The races will be started using RRS 26 COURSES: All courses will be windward-leeward with a windward offset mark. See Illustration “A” STARTING AND FINISH LINES: Both start and finish lines will be between an orange sphere and an orange flag on the RC signal boat unless the course is shortened. CHECKING IN: Before the first race of each day each boat shall sail on a starboard tack past the stern of the RC signal boat and hail her sail number until acknowledged by the race committee. MARKS: All course marks will be orange spheres. The offset mark will be a yellow sphere. RECALLS: When individual recalls are signaled, the RC will make an effort to hail the boat’s sail number. The failure to hail the sail number or of a boat to hear their sail number will not be considered as grounds for redress. CHANGE OF THE NEXT LEG OF THE COURSE: No courses will be changed once the race has started. SHORTENING OR ABANDONING A RACE: A race may be shortened or abandoned for any reason at the discretion of the Race Committee. TIME LIMIT: The time for the first boat to reach the first mark is 30 minutes. The time for the first boat to finish is 1-1/2 hours. RETIREMENT: A boat that retires from any race is asked to notify the Race Committee before leaving the race area. PROTEST: Protest will be delivered to the Principal Race Officer within 30 minutes after the RC signal boat docks. Forms are available at LWSC. The protest time and a list of protest received, along with the approximate time of the hearing will be posted on the notice board ASAP after the time limit has expired. SCORING: Multiple races are scheduled, 1 race shall constitute a regatta. TROPHIES: Trophies will be awarded depending on the number of registrants. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS / SAFETY: . All competitors must wear a USCG approved PFD at all times while sailing. A random inspection of boats may be made to assure rule compliance. RADIO COMMUNICATION / CELL PHONES: A boat will not make or receive radio transmission while racing. This also applies to mobile phones. Illustration “A”
I think we should have an option to make changes if needed on Sunday as well. Not needed covered in RRS I think for this this type of boat PFD should be required. |
